When we talk about "family" dentistry, we are referring to the routine visits for Mom, Dad and the kids. For most people, it's the same as "general" dentistry for all ages, starting with the first baby teeth. Generally speaking, routine care includes checkups (to find potential problems and solve them early) and cleanings, plus education on at-home ongoing dental care. We usually have a few fillings along the way, and occasionally a more extensive repair or extraction to deal with damage or infection.
